Instructions to use and place golpeadores. (dry method)

 

****Look for the protection foil****

 

On one site of the golpeador is a transparant plastic protection foil. If you remove it you get to the adhesive. For the XP remove the transparant blue foil. Do not remove it now but go on with the instructions below.

 

 

Tools you need for placing golpeadores:

 

Fig. 1.A very sharp knife to mark, a pair of scissors to cut the golpeador in shape and a plastic spatula , (small size witch is used to ad glue to a surface with tooth removed.  See fig. 2)

 

The way I use to place golpeadores is as follows: (dry method)

 

Lay down the golpeador on the soundboard (do not remove the protection foil yet) between the bridge and the fingerboard. Make sure the protection foil is pointing down. Mark the outside of the rosette (golpeador stops at rosette) or the sound hole (golpeador over rosette) on the golpeador. Remove it and cut out the circle and the rounding left and right of the circle. It can be done with a pair of scissors because the material is very easy to cut.

 

To place a half size for classical: Make sure left site is aligned between B (2) and E (1) string.

 

Now lay the guitar in front of you with the neck on your right hand side.

 

The next step is take of the protection foil but not completely! at the side were the golpeador comes against the bridge. Bend the foil back in the direction of the circle you did cut out and hold it with your right hand. Now place the side witch comes against the bridge very carefully and aligned. The best way to do this is to hold the golpeador almost straight up. If it is carefully aligned press the side with the finger of your left hand on the soundboard. Do not use to much pressure. Now lay down the golpeador (the protection foil is still partly on) on the soundboard. At the bridge the golpeador is glued to the soundboard and at the other side its bending up because of the foil underneath. Now take the plastic spatula and strike carefully towards the bridge removing grey looking areas. Start with about one centimetre from the bridge. Work from the middle towards both sides. Now turn the guitar (the neck is pointing to your left hand now) and start striking with the spatula towards the sound hole. Work about one centimetre at a time, start in the middle toward both sides of the golpeador. If you have done a couple of centimetres you can remove the foil a little further by pulling it. Do not remove it totally. Work towards the sound hole till the golpeador is completely done. If you do it this way it is completely flat without any air bubbles.
